For those who might be thinking about visiting this famed city, there are more than enough delights found in the region to overload one’s senses. However, if you need a little more information about this place, here are some of the most interesting facts about Prague.

1.  Prague Castle

There’s no doubt that Prague Castle is quite popular among tourists due to its historical value, but it’s the fact that it currently has the Guinness Book of World Records’ notch as the world’s biggest castle that really makes it worth its weight. At 17,297 acre, this is no surprise. It’s also why it’s almost impossible to tour in a single day, not least because some areas are off limits.

 

2.  Charles SquareTown Square

This popular tourist destination in the city was once the biggest town square in the world and even had the nickname “The Big Marketplace” a long while back. Now, it’s still pretty big, which is why tourists are often left tired without even seeing everything it can offer.

 

3.  John Lenon Wall

Near Charles Bridge is a wall where you will find a ton of graffiti dedicated to John Lenon himself. The Beatles member is revered in many parts of the world, of course, but he has never actually been to Prague himself. Even so, he has many portraits all over the wall and there are also a few lyrics to his songs that are sprayed on there as well. Just goes to show just how influential the musician was.

4.  Charles Bridge Math

Charles BridgeSpeaking of Charles Bridge, there is actually an interesting mathematical tidbit to the location that not too many people know about. With Charles IV being quite the superstitious sort of person, which is why he chose to lay down the first stone on July 9, 1357 at 5:31 in the morning due to the astrological significance of the choice. In its numerical form, it basically looks like 1-3-5-7-9-7-5-3-1, which goes from year, day, the month, and the time.

    At least three times a year I fly to Prague. Chill with friends, beer, and even from my roof go. Insurance Squared, Continuous course, so I can go whenever I want.

    Just returned from several days of fun touring Prague. Tasty and good food. Hippie market fell slightly against me, but otherwise I’m sure I’ll go back sometime yet.

      You can’t get to see all of these beautiful spots in one day. You will need to have a least one week stay to be able to see 80% of them 🙂
